Hellenic Thoracic Society: Suspended lung functions tests due to COVID-19

The George D. Behrakis Research Lab in line with the shelter at home order and to ensure the safety of both patients and personnel, has proactively suspended the performance of lung function tests since 13 March 2020.

As of May 11, 2020, the Hellenic Thoracic Society has issued the following statement (in greek) regarding lung function testing under the Covid-19 pandemic.

The members of the Hellenic Thoracic Society are advised to suspend lung function testing until 30 June 2020, with 2 exemptions, provided patients are free of Covid-19 symptoms, clinical and radiological findings, and have tested negative for Covid-19 within the past 48 hours:

  • preoperative evaluation
  • urgent need of lung function evaluation seeking treatment initiation/change, or indication for hospital admission

Our team at the George D. Behrakis Research Lab, closely monitors the COVID-19 situation updates and is daily informed on the guidelines issued by national and international medical societies and health authorities.

We will resume function under the highest safety and infection control standards.
